I have been a Speech Language Pathologist at Essex Middle School since 2008. From 2002-2008, I worked at Essex Elementary School with grades K-2 and in the Early Intervention program with children ages Birth-3 years old.
Supporting Students
Our Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) department consists of two Speech-Language Pathologists, Sara Desilets, M.S., CCC-SLP and Amanda Lamb, M.A., CCC-SLP.
We work closely with classroom teachers and other staff members to support students in oral expression and listening comprehension. Our roles include: consulting to teachers and teams, screening, assessing and providing direct instruction both in and out of the classroom.

Amanda Lamb
My name is Amanda Lamb and I am originally from Oswego, NY. This is my 7th year as one of the speech-language pathologists at Essex Middle School and 4th at FMS. Previously, I worked in Highgate Elementary school for six years. Before becoming an SLP, I was a Chemical Analyst II for a large pharmaceutical company for 7 years, but when they started to downsize, I took matters into my own hands. Based on my love of science and children, I started taking courses in Communication Disorders Sciences. I was drawn to the complexity of communication, as well as the sense of accomplishment and reward of helping people. Since becoming an SLP, I have been fortunate to be able to combine my love of science, technology, math, and language to help the students at Essex Middle School and Founders Memorial School to increase their ability to communicate. I also co-facilitate a Social Thinking group as well as a weekly GSA group. I can be reached via Email or ext 1544.
