Helping Out at EES

Community and parent volunteers are an integral part of our school community. We welcome the involvement of guardians in our classrooms and our school building.

Volunteer at School

As required by the district and state laws, all volunteers must register using our EWSD volunteer registration system. If you have been asked to volunteer for a specific event:

  1. Please ask your child's teacher, or another school employee, for a link to the online registration form.

  2. Read the EWSD Expectations for Volunteers Guide (goes to our district website) before starting.

  3. You can also learn more about our background check process on our District's Volunteer pages

  4. Learn about Four Winds science education on our EES page.

Our PTO

Essex Town's PTO helps support students and staff, and looks for opportunities to enrich the school community with relationship-building events or by supporting in-school initiatives.

Four Winds Parent-Led Science Education

Four Winds at EES

EES students are enriched by learning about the natural world in monthly, hands-on workshops in their classrooms, and led by volunteers from the school community - parents, grandparents, caregivers, and community members.

  • Summary: Four Winds is a wonderful program that enables volunteers (parents, neighbors, grandparents) to share science and nature with elementary school children in a fun and interactive way!  Our amazing trainer, Deb Parella, gives us all the necessary background information and learning activities at periodic training workshops.  She literally gives you all the knowledge and materials you need to share 1-2 hours of fun and education in the classroom. The kids adore these sessions where they get to do hands-on experiments, explore outside, and often make projects that they then take home to share with their family.  If you are interested in volunteering, please email us or sign up here
