I have been working in literacy intervention at Fleming School since the 2018-19 school year. I have an undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies from UVM and a Master of Education in Reading from Saint Michael's College. I taught in the fields of agricultural, environmental, and outdoor education for many years before switching to the classroom setting. Prior to working at Fleming, I taught at Folsom School, the Bellwether School and tutored for the Champlain Valley School District and the Stern Center.

My husband, a science teacher at CHS, and I have lived in the Champlain Islands for close to thirty years where we raised our two daughters, who are also now teachers. I love working with the Fleming community.  The fourth and fifth grade students' curiosity, enthusiasm and energies are contagious! Outside school, I enjoy walking, gardening and volunteering on the Board of South Hero Land Trust.

I'm excited for my fourth year teaching literacy at Thomas Fleming School. My goal is to get students to be enthusiastic readers! I love finding just the right book for a reader. I enjoy using reader's theater, debate, poems, and vocabulary games in order to improve comprehension, fluency and vocabulary.

I live in Essex with my husband. I have four children (three daughters and one son) who are all in college this year. I love reading (of course), cooking and crafting.

Hello Fleming Families! My name is Colleen Legris and I am excited to be part of the Thomas Fleming community. Math is my passion and I try to pass that love on to students. I do this by taking students where they are and scaffolding instruction to meet individual needs. Additionally, I provide hands-on math activities and authentic problems, so they are motivated to make connections to life outside of school.

I live in Fairfax with my husband.  We enjoy traveling and spending time with our two sons and daughter-in-law. I spent most of my career teaching in Jeffersonville, Vermont. I also taught within the EWSD at Founders and Westford schools. I joined Thomas Fleming School in the fall of 2021 as the math interventionist. I look forward to working together to make learning engaging and productive. Please feel free to reach out to me at any time.
