At ADL: Field hockey has no practice today, Thursday 9/26.
The Northern New England TESOL networking event brought together educators and leaders of English language learners from across the state. Co-led by EWSD's Tamara Eklof (Parks) and Dr. Andrea Honigsfeld, the event focused on supporting multilingual students in early English acquisition.
Attendees participated in topic-specific discussions and heard from Multilingual Learners (ML) and State Title III Directors. All registered participants also received a book from Dr. Honigsfeld!

The Heavenly Food Pantry, located at the First Congregational Church on Main Street in Essex Junction, will be open to families residing in Essex, Essex Junction, and Westford on Thursday, September 26, from 3-6 p.m. Families arriving will be given a number when they enter the building. When their number is called, they will be registered and introduced to a volunteer, who will guide them around the pantry while they select their food. Another volunteer will bring the food to the family’s vehicle. Shopping carts will be made available for those within walking distance of the pantry.
As usual, there are no income requirements to visit the food pantry and a variety of food is available to everyone; however, additional food is provided once a month by the USDA to eligible families who fall below federally mandated guidelines. Families not able to attend the pantry may call the Church office at (802) 878-5745 between 9-12 p.m. today through Thursday to leave contact information (name, address, no. of people in household, phone number) so arrangements for delivery can be made. Phone calls to complete registration will occur on Thursday morning.
Families are currently able to visit the pantry each time it is open; on the 2nd Monday of the month from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and the 4th Thursday of the month from 3-6 p.m. The next food pantry distribution will occur on Monday, October 14, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Calling all middle school students at ADL, EMS, and Westford ... you are invited to take part in the Mini Golf Madness event hosted by the Essex Rotary on Sunday, Sept. 29 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.! It's official - the rink has ice! 🥶❄️🧊
The Heavenly Food Pantry, located at the First Congregational Church on Main Street in Essex Junction, will be open to residents of Essex, Essex Junction, and Westford on Monday, September 9, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Beginning at 5:30, families arriving will be given a number, where they will wait in the sanctuary for their number to be called. They will then be registered and guided to the food pantry, where a volunteer will greet and escort them around, allowing them to make selections. After food is gathered, it will be weighed (information for pantry use only) and another volunteer will bring the food to the family’s vehicle. Shopping carts will be made available for those within walking distance of the pantry.
Face masks are optional for those entering the food pantry to ensure safety for visitors as well as volunteers. As usual, there are no income requirements to visit the food pantry and a variety of food is available to everyone; however, additional food is provided by the USDA once a month to eligible persons who fall below federally mandated guidelines. Exciting News! The CTE Preschool still has openings for the 2024-25 school year for children ages 3-5. Your child must be 3 years old by September 15 to enroll. We welcome families from all neighboring communities, not just Essex! Our program runs from October 1 to May 29, featuring a Reggio Emilia-inspired curriculum, small class sizes, and daily outdoor exploration. Tuition is $100 per month. Congrats to EWSD students Bryce Terborgh (EHS), Nick Norris (ADL), and Aiden Mellinger (EMS) who will be representing Vermont at the New England Section in the PGA Junior League Regional Championships at Bethpage Yellow on Long Island September 6-8. This is the site for the 2025 Ryder Cup. ⛳⛳
