Dental Assisting

Imagine Yourself...

  • Taking x-rays of patients' teeth

  • Making tooth whitening trays

  • Taking impressions of patients' teeth

  • Assisting with dental procedures

What will I learn...

You may think that every scrub-wearing staff member in the dentist's office is either a dentist or a dental hygienist. Some of those staff members are, while others are professionals performing important tasks like making sure the dental office is running smoothly and facilitating care for dental patients. Those team members are called Dental Assistants.

If you have strong communication skills, enjoy working with your hands as well as your mind and are interested in a career with lots of responsibility, dental assisting is for you.

Additionally...

  • Take additional college classes through CCV and earn college credits

  • Earn certification for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation & Automated External Defibrillator (CPR/AED)

  • Receive Dental Radiology certification at the conclusion of the program

  • Become a student member of the American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA)

  • Students have the opportunity to practice their dental assisting skills in local dental practices

  • High school juniors have the option to return for the Dental Assisting 2 program as a second year apprentice at a local dental practice
