KATIE COMBS, CLASS OF 2014 - SUMMIT STREET SCHOOL

"There isn’t a better way to transition from the classroom to life outside of school than through Community Internship.

By focusing on the small details of how to write a professional resume and how to interview competently, to the major step of actually participating in a business that directly related to my interests was the most helpful way to learn which direction I wanted to go towards after high school.

I now feel confident that I have the necessary skills to succeed in my chosen career."

DANIEL RAINVILLE, CLASS OF 2017 - CITY MARKET, NUTRITION DEPARTMENT

DANIEL RAINVILLE, CLASS OF 2017 - CITY MARKET, NUTRITION DEPARTMENT

"Overall my experience at City Market studying nutrition was one of the most beneficial things that I had done during my four years at EHS.

Even though in the end I decided I did not want to go into the nutrition field, I found that there were certain aspects of the internship that I really enjoyed, which were greatly helpful while applying to colleges.

I gained more skills than I can count from working with Meredith including organization, time management, communication, and the importance of community.

I will forever be thankful for the opportunities that Ms Hemingway, Meredith Knowles, and all the other staff at Essex that aided in making this internship possible."

CARLY RIGGIN, CLASS OF 2020 - JANET S. MUNT FAMILY ROOM

"I interned at the Janet S. Munt Family Room. At my internship I got hands on experience doing work in my field of interest. I interned in multiple different programs the family room offered. I had the opportunity to form meaningful relationship with the families I met and was able to use my experience to narrow down my interests. My experience was very fulfilling for me and also great in helping me learn more about what I want to pursue as a career."

"My internship helped me determine my thoughts on specific career choices and I now know what I want topursue in college. I gained so much experience and have found hobbies that I hope to continue for a long time. Most importantly, I was able to make lasting relationships with people from my internship that I know can help me find jobs and who also offered me the opportunity to come back in a few years to intern in college too. Throughout my internship I was proud of the work that I was doing and felt like a contributing member to a professional workplace."
