Summit Street School front entrance

February 13, 2023

Founders Memorial School and Summit Street School received recognition for their Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports Framework during the Annual Vermont PBIS Leadership Forum on October 3, 2022, and were recently highlighted in the 2021-22 VTPBIS Annual Report. Their stories and data will be highlighted as best practices for other Vermont schools to learn from and use in planning.

Vermont Secretary of Education, Daniel French, congratulated FMS Principal, Sara Jablonski, Summit Principal, Colleen Birner, and staff members at both schools for a job well done:

“As Secretary, I recognize the importance of prioritizing social, emotional, behavioral learning and well-being to achieve success for all learners. I thank and congratulate you and your school community for your focused efforts to utilize, sustain, and/or improve your PBIS systems, data, and practices. The recognition you received was based on the interventions and support you delivered to students and communities to achieve positive outcomes during these challenging times. Your team persevered and maintained PBIS as a priority, engaged students and families/caregivers, improved the school climate, and considered issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Perhaps most importantly, your team reflected on your learnings from last year and considered what was most important to bring into this school year.”
