Julia Morton and Hailey Messier were recently named Vermont Presidential Scholars by the State of Vermont Agency of Education. The Vermont Presidential Scholars Program is a statewide recognition of student citizenship, and academic, artistic, and leadership excellence. 

Julia Morton is in the Dental Assisting Program at the Center for Technology, Essex. She will graduate with 16 college credits from Fast Forward, dual enrollment, and the Community College of Vermont. Julia earned first place in Dental Assisting at the 2024 Skills USA National Competition in Atlanta, Georgia. 

In addition to her technical skills, Julia is a member of the National Technical Honor Society. Her academic achievements are complemented by numerous industry certifications, including a Dental Radiology Certification and the Work Keys National Career Readiness Certificate at the Gold level.

Julia is also a second-year dental assistant student participating in a professional work-based learning experience at Sunny Hollow Dentistry in Colchester. Here she is honing her skills and making a meaningful impact on her patients' lives. 

Hailey Messier is the president of EHS's chapter of the national music honor society Tri-M. For over four years, she has auditioned for and been accepted into the District, all-state, and New England music festivals. She's involved in Scholars Bowl and aspires to become a nurse. 

With her creativity, resilience, and passion for music, Hailey is a shining example of an artist committed to personal and artistic growth.
