EHS junior, Katie Preston, was selected for the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Scholarship to Germany by the U.S. Department of State and AFS-USA. Preston is one of 250 high school students from across the United States to be awarded for the 2024-2025 academic year. Preston intends to spend the year in Germany living with a host family, attending a German high school, and participating in language learning and cultural immersion training to gain a better understanding of German culture, language, and everyday life.

EHS student, Anthony Matas, was named winner of the 2024 Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. This award recognizes and celebrates the nation's most outstanding high school senior male wrestlers for their experience in wrestling, scholastic achievement, citizenship, and community service.

Reflecting back on Teacher/School Staff Appreciation last week.

EHS/CTE Multicultural Potluck was held on May 10th.
This event brought together families, staff, and community members through art, performances and food.
EHS Community Service Dinner was held on May 1st. The dinner was to recognize 12th-grade students for their service to EHS and the greater Essex Community. Approximately 160 students and caregivers attended the event.
The lasagna dinner was served by members of the Rotary Club of Essex.
Robert Carpenter, EWSD School Board Chair, was the speaker.
The EHS STEM Academy visited the UVM Cancer Center to hear from speakers, tour the labs, and learn about the cancer center's research.
The Global Leadership Program at EHS hosted its senior practicum event. This event is highly interactive, engaging, and focused on the skills and knowledge GLP graduates have gained. The GLP practicum focuses on cross-cultural competence and effective public speaking, led by experts in these fields from the University of Vermont and Quinnipiac University in Connecticut.

The ADL Rock Band Showcase will be held on Tuesday, May 14 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Double E Performance Center. Get ready to rock at an all-star performance of the more than two dozen 6-8th grade participants in the ADL Rock Band. Tickets are $8 for adults, and free for students 17 and under. All proceeds support ADL band programs.
EHS Theater students invite you to join a character tea party on Saturday, May 18 at 10 a.m. in the Essex High School Cafeteria. Come enjoy tea and treats with the cast of Anastasia! Tickets are $8.
