Goals were developed at the Board Retreat held in June 2023
Develop Global Ends Policy
Embed POG work into Ends Policy
Community Engagement
Potentially once a quarter with the public in place of regular meetings. Find ways to meet the community where they are, such as Open House Nights, After School Sports or Arts events.
Help increase public understanding around district policies.
Engage in scenarios similar to board exercises in Spring Board Retreat.
Formalize onboarding process for new school board members and new student members.
Explore moving budget season to end on town meeting day to potentially increase voter engagement. Have discussions with involved parties to see if moving Budget vote to Town Meeting Day 2025 through Australian Ballot in 2024 is necessary. Make decision by end of Dec 2023.
Facilities Review with or without public engagement. To include board tours of district facilities for board members.
Student Involvement
in presentations
providing support and encouragement for student participation and involvement (Guide and support students and make participation accessible)
Collect student feedback (doodle poll?) on topics that are impacting board decisions (universal school meals, safety, academic rigor, etc.)
Provide space for students input/feedback both in and out of meetings, NOT just adult community members
Better support for student reps - how can we expand on our role and serve as a bigger resource for student voice/input? (Students don't really know who we are or what we do currently)
Nominate Board Representative to RAB to oversee District RAB
Ongoing Goals:
Continue Equity Policy work by viewing all policies continuously through an equity lens.
Continue board education on District CIP to help with own monitoring process.
Policy Governance - Review and monitoring of policies in a regular cadence
