Hunter Eddy

The Essex Westford School District is pleased to announce that Hunter Eddy will join the District as the new Director of Transportation effective July 1. Eddy brings nine years of experience and leadership within the transportation industry.

“EWSD is extremely fortunate to have Hunter join our hard-working and dedicated transportation team. His background in system design and his deep personal commitment to the students and families of Essex Westford School District will make him an instant contributor to the department,” said Brian Donahue, EWSD’s Chief Operating Officer.

Eddy comes to the EWSD after spending the past nine years at Green Mountain Transit (GMT). While there, he worked his way up through the system, taking on the roles of Training Supervisor and Chief Safety Officer for the company.

As the Training Supervisor, Eddy developed, implemented, and maintained training programs for new and veteran bus operators and operations supervisors across GMT, which has five locations and over 100 employees. Through this work, he designed and developed training manuals, lesson plans, and related teaching support materials, as well as implemented training for employees on new software technology.

In his role as the Chief Safety Officer, Eddy created policies and procedures to minimize risk and ensure the safety of all GMT employees. He developed and implemented GMT’s Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan, created and implemented GMT’s Employee Near-Miss Safety Reporting Program, and developed emergency evacuation procedures and policies for GMT’s Downtown Transit Center and Montpelier Transit Center.

Eddy acted as GMT’s liaison with law enforcement for safety and security for public events, while he was also in charge of conducting accident, incident, and crash investigations.

In 2015 Eddy was honored by the Vermont Governor’s Highway Safety Program and the Department of Motor Vehicles in recognition of his dedication to school traffic safety.
