Senator Bernie Sanders announced the winners of the Fourteenth Annual State of the Union Essay Contest for Vermont students! EHS student, Leah Frisbie, won first place with her essay about the impacts of banning books from school libraries. EHS junior, Jack French, was also a finalist in this year's contest. Well done!

The essay contest is designed to engage Vermont's high school students on the major issues facing the country. Over the past thirteen years, over 5,700 students throughout Vermont have written essays about critically important issues, including climate change, racial injustice, access to mental health care, the state of our democracy, and more.
