A group of ADL students have been planning and organizing ADL's first-ever Culture Day which will be held on March 29th. Students presented their work to the staff this past week. They explained that Culture Day is an opportunity for our school community members to explore both personal culture and heritage as well as those of peers. The most significant detail about Culture Day is that both the initial idea and subsequent work have all been student-driven. 😊👍👍

During the month of January, Summit focused on their Social Justice standard #16: I care about those who are treated unfairly. Every class at Summit read The Artivist and all students created equity flags. During an assembly, Summit discussed the book and students were able to see all of the equity flags created! They also heard several students share the action steps written on their equity flags. 👍👍

Team Nebula at ADL had a field trip to the Essex Skating Facility! ⛸️⛸️

GlobalFoundries donated $10,000 to the EHS STEM Academy and recently they unveiled the new science equipment. EHS students will now have the capability to work with different model systems, to extract, process, and analyze DNA, and to go out into the field and collect meaningful data about Vermont's biology. 👉 https://bit.ly/3u4Syvx 👏👏

Due to a ventilation issue that has caused Essex High School and CTE to close early today, all EWSD buses will be running between 20-30 minutes later than normal this afternoon as we have had to combine routes.

🎶Join Essex High School's 'Be The Light' band concert on February 7th beginning at 7 p.m. in the EHS Auditorium. The Essex Jazz Collective, the Symphonic Band, and the Wind Ensemble students will all be performing. This event is free and open to the public. 🎶

Addi was a beloved member of the Essex community and the Essex Fire Family. She courageously fought a long, progressive battle with a complex mystery disease that included severe blood and bone marrow disorders. Yet, she had an indomitable spirit and met life with joy. Blood products gave Addi life countless times, allowing her to live more life than most in only 12 short years. Please honor her by coming together, in her memory, to give blood and save lives. ❤️ This event will be held at Founders Memorial School on Saturday, February 10th from 9-3 p.m.

At Summit, Ms. Mahoney's and Mrs. Hamilton's classes joined to collaborate on a winter art project. Doing this activity together helped students practice patience, show respect for each other, use teamwork skills, and demonstrate community-building strategies. 👍👍 #EWSD #YouBelong

Former Speaker of the House Mitzi Johnson and Essex delegates Karen Dolan and Lori Houghton recently visited Fleming to talk to students about the process of how a bill becomes a law. The students acted as different committees in a mock process focused on whether every Vermont student should get an ice cream sundae each Friday or not. 👏👏
