EES first graders presented their class projects on characters to their families and community! Each first grade class picked a character, and worked together on writing a poem pretending to be that character! Students worked with Ms. Blain in art to create pieces to hold or wear, and Ms. Heather in music taught everyone a song.

Hiawatha's ELL teacher, Terri Geffert, has been selected as a WIDA: Fellow Instructional Expert for the 2023-24 academic year! As a WIDA: Fellow Instructional Expert, she will engage in a collaborative learning group as well as inform and improve the development of professional learning and resources for other educators from September 2023 to May 2024. WIDA Fellows will also receive a $1000 honorarium after the completion of the cohort in May 2024. ππ #EWSD

The EMS 6th grade teams were excited to welcome guest speaker Tyler Jankoski, Chief Meteorologist for NBC5 News, to wrap up their recent weather and climate unit. Tyler talked about what it takes to become a meteorologist and how he analyzes weather data to bring us the local forecast.
